Winged Flight at Night

Event Date:
July 24, 2015 - 8:30pm

Join the Tahoe Heritage Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service at Lake of the Sky Amphitheater on Friday, July 24 for a fun and educational presentation by NorCal Bats. Learn about these amazing flying mammals and their importance to our ecosystem, such as insect control.

The live lecture is at Taylor Creek Visitor Center's Lake of the Sky Amphitheater at 8:30 p.m. It is open to the public. Cost is a $5 donation which goes to the Tahoe Heritage Foundation.

There will be LIVE bats projected on to a large screen so everyone can see their delicate structures. All bats are certified as non-releasable by California Department of Fish & Game and the U.S. Department of Agriculture—injury precludes them from surviving the wild.

NorCal Bats is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of bats throughout Northern California. With outreach and public education programs, NorCal Bats teach the environmental benefits of bats and put to flight the fears and myths that lead to destruction of roosts and colonies. Located in the Sacramento Valley, NorCal Bats is solely funded by donations, presentations, and hard working volunteers.

Taylor Creek Visitor Center is located approximately 3 miles north of South Lake Tahoe on the lakeside of Highway 89. The Visitor Center entrance is just past the entrance to the Tallac Historic Site and Fallen Leaf Lake Road. Dogs are permitted only on leash.
