Lake Tahoe author releases first novel, Serial Dealer

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Richard Barton has worked at South Shore casinos Harrah's and Harveys since 1989, giving him enough first-hand knowledge to start a series of books, "Seven, You're Out."

The first of that series, Serial Dealer, has just been released. The story takes place in Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas and is about a casino dealer who is also a serial killer.

"The idea came about one night a few years back while standing dead on a high limit blackjack game," said Barton. "I was talking with my pit boss about all the crazy things that have happened over the years in Harvey's and she casually mentioned, 'someone should write a book about all this stuff'."

"It should be an exciting story with compelling characters and all those crazy stories woven into the whole thing," Barton said as he started thinking about how the story would go should he start to write. "Thus, I came up with the idea of a casino dealer who is a serial killer, his victims all being horrible customers who do terrible things in the casino."

He hope his next book, Serial Gambler, will be completed in April, 2018.
