41st annual Antique and Classic Boat Society's International Boat Show returns to Tahoe

Event Date:
September 23, 2016 - 9:00am

The 41st Annual Antique and Classic Boat Society's International Boat Show is being held Friday and Saturday, September 23/24from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Sierra Boat Company, Carnelian Bay, Calif. The show only comes to Tahoe every ten years.

Sponsored by the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS), this exciting and unique show will feature uber-beautiful watercraft from around North America. "Klondike" will be showcased. She is a 1938 Chris Craft 25' Clipper, the winner of the 2015 Best of Show Restored Award at last year's International show held near Brainerd, Minnesota. Among boats joining "Klondike" will be a Chris Craft Cobra from Texas, a Shephard from Washington, a Century from Minnesota, and boats from Maryland. Of course, there will be dozens of wooden boats from the West Coast too.

Can you say, "Orange Shag Carpet?" Another interesting aspect of the ACBS International show is the Early Fiberglass boats that are very popular and are crowd pleasers. A few Campbells and Centuries will be highlighted at the event. One of the Centuries is all the way from Canada.

"Participants in the Antique and Classic Boat Society's Annual Meeting are particularly drawn to the Tahoe area to admire the gorgeous boats that are especially unique to the west coast region." Being an international organization, we have members coming this year from France, Sweden, Iceland and Canada," comments Kathy Parker, ACBS Interim Executive Director. She also emphasizes that funds raised at this event will become scholarships for students in approved wood and marine technology schools who are being trained to preserve, restore, and maintain our vintage boats.

The Tahoe Maritime Museum will be on deck with one of their award winning classic crafts too.

Very interesting booths will also be a part of the 41st International Show. Boatique Winery, an ACBS Silver Sponsor www.boatiquewines.com, will be "showing off" their new winery, award winning wine products, and extensive boat collection at their Boatique Display Booth. Owners Robert & Madi Mount combined two lifelong passions, wine & classic boating, to create Boutique Winery. Free shipping will be offered for any purchases at the show.
