Forty-nine year old Shawn Michael DeCosta is behind bars after being arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglarizing the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) in South Lake Tahoe on January 4, 2016.
Officer Matt Morrison of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department investigated the burglary and found evidence at the scene, including video surveillance, that indicated DeCosta was the suspect. A warrant was obtained for his arrest, and at 4:15 p.m. January 5, Officer Morrison located DeCosta walking in the area of Ski Run Blvd. DeCosta was arrested and booked, and is currently in the El Dorado County Jail on a $50,000 bail hold.
The loss from IHOP, if any, is unclear at this time.
There was at least one other burglary that occurred around the same time and in the same neighborhood, one of which was at the Blue Angel Cafe.
According to SLTPD Lt. David Stevenson, that case in still under investigation but DeCosta is also a suspect in that burglary.
