Arrest made in Douglas County attempted residential burglary

A suspect was arrested two days after the Douglas County Sheriff's Office circulated the photo of a person of interest in an attempted residential burglary in Gardnerville.

On January 19 at 3:00 p.m., Joshua Gutierrez, 25, of Gardnerville was arrested at his place of business in Douglas County. During the arrest, a box of collectibles, coins and currency that didn't belong to the suspect was located in Gutierrez's vehicle.

Gutierrez was identified as the suspect caught on a home's security camera in the Ranchos neighborhood, wearing all black. The suspect knocked on the front door, and when there was no answer he entered the backyard and attempted to gain entry through the rear garage door. He was unsuccessful.

Gutierrez is facing charges of Attempted Residential Burglary and being an Ex-Felon Failure to Register. His bail was set at $25,643.
