South Lake Tahoe authorities continue search for Wells Fargo bank robber who fled with cash

Update 2PM: The Following is from South Lake Tahoe Police Department Lt. David Stevenson regarding the Wells Fargo bank robbery that happened late this morning.

On 1/30/2012 at approximately 11:25 am the Wells Fargo Bank inside Raley’s located at 4010 Lake Tahoe Blvd was robbed by an unknown white male adult. The suspect walked up to the teller and demanded cash. No weapon was threatened or seen during the robbery. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and walked away from the bank and out of Raley’s. The suspect was last seen walking east from the shopping center toward the area of Heavenly Village Way and Bellamy Ct. The suspect was described as being a white male adult, late 50’s early 60’s, approximately 6’ 0” tall, skinny build, wearing a tan “touring” type hat, tan jacket, and khaki pants. The suspect was wearing prescription glasses.

The Wells Fargo Bank inside the Raleys at the Village Center in South Lake Tahoe was robbed at around 11:25 this morning. The robber is described as a man, in his 50s. He was wearing a tan colored beret and forced employees inside the bank to get on the floor during the robbery, according to police scanner traffic.
The robber is described as being 6 foot with a thin build, wearing tan khaki pants, a tan beret or golf cap, a tan colored zipper jacket with a red shirt underneath, prescription glasses and took off near Bob Dog's Pizza, according to police scanner traffic. It is unclear whether a gun or weapon was used in the robbery. A hat and jacket were recovered at around 1 p.m. this afternoon in some bushes near the city's parking garage adjacent to the Heavenly Gondola.
South Lake Tahoe police and Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies are carrying out the search. The FBI has also been contacted.
In the call, three alarms went off inside the bank that alerted dispatch of the robbery, according to police scanner traffic.
In an interview with a witness, a suspect that fit the description was said to be heading near the transit center. Another witness also said a subject who also matched the description, was seen near the old Bill's Casino.
