Lake Tahoe Receives Highly Anticipated Snow

Almost a foot of snow is being welcomed into the Lake Tahoe basin today. Snow started falling in the early hours of Thursday morning and will continue into Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, and additional 4 to 8 inches is expected at lake level during the day Thursday, with 1 to 3 inches Thursday night. A winter storm warning is in effect until 4 am on Friday morning.
School was in session at Lake Tahoe Unified School district, even though moving around the streets on the way to school today proved to be an adventure for some. The hill to South Tahoe High was icy and caused some car and school bus slides, but no accidents reported at the school according to Angie Keil of LTUSD.
As of Thursday morning, there were no significant collisions reported in South Lake Tahoe as well.
