'Dough' opens in the Chateau, bringing fast, casual pizza to South Lake Tahoe

A year after opening his successful Sno Frozen Yogurt Cafe in the Chateau at the Village, Theron Baker joined family member and opened "Dough" right next door.

"Fast casual pizza is picking up across the country," said Baker. "I thought it'd be a good idea here."

Dough just opened on Saturday, February 13 and they've been hopping sever ince.

"The best thing about our pizza is that you don't have to share," added Baker.

The personal size pizzas are created exactly to the diner's needs and there are dozens of choices from nitrate free pepperoni, uncured bacon, all natural chicken breast and vegetables cut fresh daily. The dough comes in regular, wheat and gluten free, and sauces include marinara and kale pesto. Cheese choices are freshly ground mozzarella parmesan, feta, buffalo mozzarella and gorgonzola. There are a dozen vegetables and seven meats. The customer follows the pizza baker down the line, adding whatever choices their want to their pizza. Salads are made from the same choices.

Dough is made fresh daily.

"We don't want to be the same as everyone else," said Baker. He has lived on the south shore for seven years, having moved to town from Apple Valley.

Just like Sno, Dough's hours match the dining needs of both locals and visitors. Dough is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Locals get a bonus when eating at Dough and Sno. They offer a 10 percent discount at each location, but if getting yogurt after pizza, there is an additional 10 percent off for dessert.

Both Dough and Sno have facebook pages that list specials and other news.
