John Cocores had forgotten about submitting photos to an online casting call hosted by Microsoft. That is, until this week when the computer software giant contacted him about using his photos for the background on computers as well as wallpaper that can be purchased by users.
The self taught South Lake Tahoe photographer started taking photos as he walked around town while recovering from a broken back in 2010. He would take in the beauty that surrounded him on his treks and wanted to capture what he saw with a camera. That led to online tutorials and learning how to perfect his specialty, long exposure photography.
The dad of two sons also enjoys taking photos of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) at MontBleu and the Grand Sierra.
Cocores said he is very excited about Microsoft wanting his photos and looks forward to sharing them with people around the world. He'll have a website up soon to showcase his work at www.johncocoresphotography.com.
