A one-night-only show of progressive banjo rolling, mandolin chopping bluegrass music with the Yonder Mountain String Band and special guest The Brothers Comatose is April 3 at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa.
Blending bluegrass, rock and countless other influences, "Yonder" as fans know them, transcends genres by pioneering a singular sound with their traditional string instrument lineup. The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 the day of the show and available through Ticketfly.com or by calling the MontBleu Box Office at (888) 829-7630.
The Colorado-based foursome has crisscrossed the country over the past dozen years playing at festivals and rock clubs and even the Democratic National Convention in Denver opening for President Barack Obama.
Yonder’s improvisational method melds bluegrass, string music and rock n' roll to create a unique, wholly original style of its own. "We're looking at music from our own experiences and doing the best job possible,” said Yonder's banjo stylist Dave Johnston. “What could be more pure than making your own music?”
Returning to the MontBleu Theater for the second time this year after recently with Devil Makes Three, The Brothers Comatose is a rising folk, bluegrass Americana band known for their sing-along, stomp-along acoustic stylings. Despite their name, the band is anything but as they've been known to toss inflatable alligators into the crowd and hand out chopsticks for audience-percussion-participation.
