A boulder "the size of a Volkswagon" fell onto SR89 near Emerald Bay at 9:22 p.m. Sunday night and 20 minutes later a Toyota Prius crashed into it. No injuries are reported but the vehicle sustained major damage. As of 10:40 p.m., a tow truck is on the way and the roadway will be closed in both directions to remove the vehicle.
According to Caltrans' Twitter page, a tree also fell onto the road but has since been removed.
The road is open but expect delays and use caution until the boulder is removed.
