County Counsel: Sue Novasel cannot take part in Meyers Area Plan discussions

El Dorado County Supervisor Sue Novasel, who represents South Lake Tahoe and the rest of the South Shore, was told by County Counsel that she may no longer participate in the Meyers Area Plan (MAP) discussions. Novasel owns 11.5% of a commercial building in Meyers, and it was determined that decisions about the MAP and zoning changes could affect her investment.

“I am disappointed that a conflict of interest will prevent my future participation in the Meyers Area Plan project," Novasel said.

Supervisor Novasel said she'll listen to the residents and their concerns about Meyers and the rest of the South Shore. She'll remain a strong advocate for the community.

“I am confident that the County will bring the tools and expertise needed to successfully complete the planning process of the MAP. This project continues to be a priority within our County’s Strategic Planning Process," said Novasel.

Novasel was a member of the original Meyers Community Plan team. That plan was approved by TRPA in 1993. Over the last three years the public has been involved in community meetings to create an updated area plan, a draft of which was created in 2014.

County Counsel determined there was no conflict of interest for Supervisor Novasel to serve on the Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District, which she currently chairs.
