St. Patrick's Day at Heavenly; Killebrew Canyon to open Sunday
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 03/17/2012 - 4:55pm
While many people are thinking green on St. Patty’s Day, Heavenly Mountain Resort is thinking white and lots of it. With between two and four feet of new snow in the last 24 hours, Heavenly plans to open Killebrew Canyon on Sunday, marking the first time this season the double-black, off-piste terrain has been open.
“Miracle March has arrived at Lake Tahoe. All this new snow has allowed us to open Killebrew Canyon, featuring some of the most extreme terrain you’ll find anywhere,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager. “This storm has set us up for incredible spring skiing and riding all the way through the end of the season.”
Since Friday, March 16, Heavenly has received between 24-48” of new snow and is 100 percent open. Heavenly encourages guests to use caution when skiing off-piste and avoid the lower elevation off-piste areas, as they may not contain as much of a snow base as the higher elevations.
