An unsettled and wet weather pattern will be in place for the Lake Tahoe Basin this week. The weather system passing through today is fairly weak, but there are two systems which are currently forecast to be stronger, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
The first of these systems will bring a cold front through the region Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Winds will increase ahead of the front and will remain gusty through Wednesday with gusts up to 45 mph through valleys and up to 100 mph across Sierra ridges. This system has the potential to bring decent amounts of precipitation into the Sierra with some spillover into Western Nevada Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The current forecast shows precipitation falling from around 11 p.m. Tuesday night through 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. A couple of weaker systems will follow Thursday and Friday before another potentially strong system impacts the region Saturday with another round of gusty winds and Sierra snow.
