Wind and snow in South Lake Tahoe Thursday forecast

The typical see-saw weather pattern normal for South Lake Tahoe in Spring, continues this week.

A wind advisory has been issued for the basin from 5:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30 through the day until 8:00 p.m. Winds will increase through the day, coming from the west 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph by early afternoon behind a passing cold front. Waves on Lake Tahoe are expected to be 2-4 feet with the highest waves on the eastern and southern shores.

Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

This Afternoon - Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. East wind around 5 mph becoming northwest.

Tonight - A 20 percent chance of showers after 11pm. Increasing clouds, with a low around 32. Windy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph increasing to 20 to 30 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.

Thursday - Rain and snow showers before 11am, then a chance of snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. High near 43. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 25 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Thursday Night - A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Blustery, with a north wind 10 to 20 mph becoming west in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 23.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 55.

Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 25.
