SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - South Tahoe Refuse is continuing to provide essential health and safety services to the community with regular trash pickup and they are notifying customers of some changes they have implemented to minimize the spread of coronavirus and protect their employees.
Effective immediately:
Garbage collectors will not pick up any loose garbage. All trash must be contained in bags within trash cans and secured with a lid, or in a secured dumpster.
If trash becomes scattered outside the container, it is the responsibility of the customer to pick it up. Due to the elevated risk of exposure, STR employees will no longer clean it up.
Residents should place cans out by 7:00 a.m. on the morning of their collection day, not earlier in order to prevent wildlife from getting into the trash.
If someone in your household is sick, please double-bag your trash.
Tied blue recyclable bags can still be placed outside the can as can empty boxes.
"Thank you to all our customers for your cooperation," said South Tahoe Refuse.
