Soroptimists of South Lake Tahoe gives out $25,000 in grants

Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe (SISLT) awarded eight local organizations a total of $25,000 in grants at Harrah’s Tahoe on Wednesday, April 15.

“There are so many wonderful organizations working to improve the lives of women and children in our area,” said Micky Madden, SISLT’s Grant Allocation Co-Chair. “We are honored to aid these efforts made possible by the community’s support of our annual fundraising activities.”

The following organizations were awarded grants: Amani School (Sharon Sterling, Asad Rahman), Backpack Buddies (Lin Larson, John Carne), Bijou School PTA (Melissa James, Cindy Martinez), Boys & Girls Club (Jude Wood), Bringing Arts to the Schools (Krystal Long), CASA (Alexis Foley), Choices for Children (Heather Delia Ripa, Tina Barna), Family Resource Center (DeAnne Hooper, Teri Tibbetts), Food Bank of El Dorado County (Ashley Patten, Mike Sproull), Gardens 4 A Healthy Tahoe (Gerri Grego), Sugar Pine Foundation (Martin Rubio), Tahoe Arts Project (Peggy Blowney, Meg Peart, Nancy Muller), Tahoe Discovery Center (Bonnie Turnbull, Rebecca Bryson) and Valhalla Tahoe (Kerry Hawk, Evageline Elstone).
