Suspected arrested for murder of El Dorado County man

5/12 Update: The victim in this homicide has been identified as 43-year-old David Franklin Meade, a resident of El Dorado. Meade and suspect Eriksen were known acquaintances and this was not a random incident.
The investigation lead El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies to a home located on Lindberg Avenue in Placerville where they suspected Eriksen was hiding. The Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was deployed to the residence to take Eriksen into custody. Officers closed surrounding streets after the suspect barricaded himself in the home.
At 6:50 p.m. tonight, Eriksen was taken into custody after SWAT members sent gas into the residence where he was barricaded.
Eriksen has been booked into the County Jail on charges of murder.

A shooting in Placerville has left one dead and authorities have identified 36-year-old Travis Erikson as the suspect.
Officers from El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) and Placerville Police Department responded to a call of suspicious gun shots on Forni Road in Placerville Wednesday afternoon at 4:44 p.m. Once there they found an unidentified male with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics responded and rendered aid, but the man succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses reported seeing a red motorcycle leaving soon after the shooting, ridden by a person with a black helmet. They said he was headed toward the WalMart on Missouri Flat Road.
