Event Date:
May 29, 2014 - 5:30pm

February's community meeting on the South Lake Tahoe Airport Master Plan was attended by dozens of residents interested in the future of the airport. As promised, the consultants on the project have released all of the comments collected during and after the meeting.

The list of all the public comments and responses are now available on line at http://www.cityofslt.us/airportpubliccomments.

A second public meeting regarding the Lake Tahoe Airport Master Plan will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at City Council Chambers at Lake Tahoe Airport, located at 1901 Airport Road, South Lake Tahoe.

The Airport Master Plan will be developed to assist the City in determining how to operate the airport as fiscally responsible as possible. This includes a financial feasibility analysis that will analyze and describe the means by which the City will fund future development projects. Additionally, economics will play a key role in the alternatives analysis. Airport benefits and potential impacts to the local economy and community will be considered under this step consistent with the integration of sustainability as a driving force of the plan. Proposed projects that could potentially increase revenues for the airport and City of S outh Lake Tahoe will be reviewed and recommended for inclusion on the ALP if determined feasible with FAA standards. The potential return‐on‐investment (ROI) of all proposed projects will be also considered.

Community input is a vital component to the process and success of the Lake Tahoe Airport Master Plan. This input will be evaluated and incorporated into the master planning process. Community members are encouraged to continue to provide feedback on the Airport Master Plan at upcoming public meetings, through the City's website, or via email to Ralph Redman at rredman@cscos.com.

When completed, a draft of the Airport Master Plan will be made available for public review on the City of South Lake Tahoe’s website (www.cityofslt.us/airport).
