Teen dies after fall at Lake Tahoe

A 14-year-old female died on Wednesday, May 31 after she fell approximately 50 feet while hiking near the Vikingsholm trail at Emerald Bay.
Just after noon, On May 31, 2017, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received the call and responded along with CHP, Cal-Star, CA State Parks, Lake Valley Fire and South Tahoe EMS personnel. An off-duty law enforcement officer who was recreating in the area began CPR on the victim prior to the arrival of on-duty first responders.
The victim sustained major injuries as a result of the fall and extensive life saving efforts were conducted on scene. The victim was ultimately transported to Barton Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
It is unknown at this time where the teen was from.
