Viking Corner: This Week at South Tahoe High

At South Tahoe High School, students fought through one of the last cold weeks before sunny skies are expected to reappear. This week, seniors presented their senior projects, juniors went back in history, and a new Associated Student Body was elected.

Seniors
Seniors on Wednesday concluded final criteria to graduate by presenting their finished senior projects. Each senior chose a specific field of study. Here’s what a few seniors focused their projects on:

Hannah Voorhees researched resistance to antibiotics. She cultured a generation of resistant bacteria for her project.

Caleb Caramazza learned video editing and movie making, while Brenna Bushrow studied yoga and meditation.

Juniors
On Tuesday, a speaker from Living Voices visited juniors to demonstrate how the organization educates audiences about history, mixing solo performances with audio and video. The speaker performed a short piece on the 1930s Dust Bowl.

Students also went through workshops throughout the day to understand the history, performance, and filmmaking behind the production.

Juniors in Ms. Tillson’s, Ms. Allione’s and Ms. Pomeroy’s classes will perform reenactments on the topic of the American Dream during different eras in U.S. history, including European immigration during the early 20th century.

New ASB
The ASB team of 2020 has officially been decided. Students voted between two teams, who will lead activities and events for next year.

Sarah Hardin, Jenna Shortridge, Ethan Bindel and Cedona Martorana make up the new body. After losing one of their team members during the election, they are still deciding on who the fifth member will be.
