Reno man arrested in Stateline after SLT theft

Micah Flaherty, 33, from Reno was arrested on Monday evening after word got out about a theft at the South Lake Tahoe K-Mart by a man seen dropping a gun in the store's parking lot.

On May 30, 2016, at 5:10 p.m., the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received information about the theft, and that a male suspect was reportedly running toward his vehicle when he dropped, and retrieved, what appeared to be a handgun. The suspect fled in a silver Volkswagen.

DCSO deputies spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling eastbound on Hwy 50 in the Stateline area. The Volkswagen immediately turned into the Zephyr Cove campground where it was stopped.

South Lake Tahoe Police responded and identified Flaherty as the suspect involved in the K-Mart crime. The items stolen from K-Mart were located inside the vehicle, and the weapon found was actually an Air Soft gun. Sixteen items of drug paraphernalia were also located inside the vehicle. Flaherty was transported to Stateline jail in Douglas County, and booked for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property.

The suspect has since been transported to the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe where he remains on felony charges of grand theft. Bail has been set at $50,000.
