There was a multi-agency response to a residential structure fire near Antelope and Alder streets in Tahoma on the west shore of Lake Tahoe around 9:48 a.m. Thursday.
When Meeks Bay Fire Protection District (MBFPD) fire engines first arrived, they found the home 50 percent engulfed in flames. Three adults live in the two-story house and two were home at the time of the fire. They were able to get out with no injuries.
Besides MBFPD, also responding were North Tahoe Fire Protection District, El Dorado Sheriff, Placer Sheriff, State Parks Law Enforcement, CalFire, Liberty Energy and Southwest Gas.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and contain the fire to the single residence.
Cause of the fire is accidental and related to hobby work being performed by the occupant.
North Tahoe Fire PIO Beth Kenna reminds everyone to ensure your fire extinguishers are not expired and are in good working condition. For additional information on fire extinguishers, and in-home safety measures; visit www.nfpa.org.
