ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. – A record number of youth participated in the annual free tennis clinic at the Zephyr Cove Tennis Club on June 8. The 66 young players were guided by a team of seasoned players on the fundamentals of the sport.
Not only did the kids get to take away new tennis skills, but they also left with a shirt or towel that was donated by Vail Resorts, the parent company of Heavenly Mountain Resort.
Head pro Dave Nostrant orchestrated the various drills going on at each court, with club members assisting with instruction.
“It was spectacular to see so many kids for the first time and others returning,” Nostrant said. “Our goal is to make youth tennis a priority at ZCTC.”
Nostrant will be offering paid clinics throughout the summer for those under 18. Details are on the club’s website at https://www.zctennis.com/schedule/kids-clinics/. For more information, contact Nostrant at 702-496-6277 or davenostrant@yahoo.com. The nonprofit Zephyr Cove Tennis Club Foundation, which operates the courts, is offering a limited number of scholarships for these lessons. Contact Carolyn Wright at carolyn@zctennis.com for more details.
ZCTC has an array of clinics for adults, too. The schedule is online: https://www.zctennis.com/schedule/
