Alert resident leads to arrest of couple in South Lake Tahoe

A couple was arrested on multiple charges Friday after an alert citizen reported a suspicious vehicle at the dead end of Sundown Trail near Lodgepole Trail on the South Shore in El Dorado County.

Christy Marie, 34, and Kase Harley Krumwiede, 32, both transients, were in the parked car when El Dorado County Sheriff's Deputy DeLeon arrived to investigate the call. Kase had a felony arrest warrant out of Oregon, and both had methamphetamine and paraphernalia on their persons. A loaded firearm with the serial number removed was located in a bag inside the vehicle.

They are both currently housed in the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe. Christy Krumwiede's charges are Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed, Transportation of Controlled Substance, and Possession. Her bail was set at $124,500. Kase Krumwiede is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed, Transportation of Controlled Substance, Providing False ID, Possession and Felony Escape. His bail was set at $74,500.

In 2012, Kase Krumwiede was arrested by the Tillamook County Narcotics Team in Oregon for felony probation violation and had more than ¼ ounce of methamphetamine and 3 grams of heroin and prescription narcotics when arrested, and a drug scale, packaging material, drug records, a knife and a loaded .380 semi-automatic pistol were found in Krumwiede’s backpack. He is a convicted felon with convictions for Delivery of Heroin, Possession of Methamphetamine, Eluding Police, Assault, Burglary and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
