Two lessons in life shared in Lake Tahoe: Be nice and work hard

Kids from the Lake Tahoe Boys and Girls Club (BGCLT) were treated to a putting lesson, talk about cyberbullying and autograph session with professional golfer and model Paige Spiranac at Edgewood Tahoe on Tuesday.

Spiranac is on the South Shore for her first American Century Championship.

The 27 kids listened to Spiranac who is a national ambassador for the Cybersmile Foundation and, as a victim of cyberbullying growing up, Spiranac regularly addresses children on how to prevent and combat bullying.

She spoke to the kids about what bullying and cyberbullying are, and what to do if it they experience it.

"Bullying is a big issue when you're a kid," said Jude Wood, executive director of BGCLT. "It was great for the kids to hear that they're not the only one because when you're bullied you feel like its just like you. To see Paige and how successful sh'e been in her life, and then to understand she too has been a victim of bullying in the past it makes them that less lonely."

"She had a great message, for the kids," said Wood.

"If you work hard and you're nice to people, the possibilities are endless," Spiranac told the kids. "Its easy, right?"
