The filing period opened on Monday for candidates wishing to run for one of the two open Lake Tahoe Unified School Board positions. The full term of the position will be until 11/30/18.
All interested persons must be a registered voter and reside within the boundaries of Trustee Area #5 or #2. Area 5 covers a wide region from Cascade Lake to Meyers and Area 2 is part of the Al Tahoe and Bijou neighborhoods (see attached maps for exact boundaries).
The November 4th elections will be part of the El Dorado County wide ballot.
The filing period runs until August 8 at 5 p.m. unless an incumbent fails to file their nomination papers at that time. If this is the case the filing period is open for an extended five days until 8/13/14.
The Lake Tahoe Unified School District does not have a filing fee; however, there is a charge for candidates who wish to file and have printed a Candidate Statement in the sample ballot. The fee, determined by the El Dorado County Registrar of Voters, is $410 for English and an additional $506 for Spanish.
Nomination papers can be obtained at the Elections Department at 2850 Fairlane Court, Placerville, CA. or the Recorder-Clerk’s Office located at 3368 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, Suite 108 in South Lake Tahoe. Please note the Tahoe office is open Monday through Friday, however, it is closed from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
The last day to register to vote for the November 4, 2014 election is Monday, October 20, 2014.
