Event Date:
August 2, 2018 - 2:00pm
Food trucks can be found in communities across the country, and proponents of bringing the popular mobile vendors to South Lake Tahoe have asked City Council to look into updating regulations and changing code that currently forbid them in city limits. Council asked staff to look into food trucks, and the pros and cons of adding them in South Lake Tahoe.
The resullts of those tasks will be in two public dicussions on the subject on August 2, one from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the other from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Recreation Swim Complex located at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. Both sessions will be the same presentation.
A webpage has been created to provide more information on not only the current food truck regulations, but also case studies and a publication by the National League of Cities titled "Food on Wheels: Mobile Vending Goes Mainstream." The page can be found here: www.cityofslt.us/mobilevending.
The August workshop will include a brief presentation on regulatory practices of other jurisdictions and a facilitated discussion regarding the risks and opportunities associated with mobile vending.
