South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue responded to the call of a structure fire on the corner of Nevada Avenue and Tallac Avenue Monday night.
Upon arrival they found that the owner of the home had been working on the water heater. The expansion foam used on the project has volatile fumes that ignited according to SLTFR Battalion Chief Tim Spencer.
Power and gas was shut off to the single story structure as firefighters went through the home and examined the duct work to make sure no fire went into the crawl space.
All was found to be clear and at 9:15 p.m., Spencer was on the scene awaiting Southwest Gas to turn the gas back on. He said there wasn't much fire and the home is inhabitable.
