Nevada Picked Second In First Season In Mountain West

LAS VEGAS – The University of Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack football team has been picked second in its inaugural season in the Mountain West and four Wolf Pack players were named to the 2012 Mountain West Football Preseason All-Conference Team. The polls and teams were announced Tuesday at the Mountain West's media event this week at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Boise State was picked first in the poll, which was voted on by the league's media. Nevada was second, followed by Fresno State, Wyoming and San Diego State, all of three which visit Mackay Stadium this year. Air Force was sixth and Hawaii was seventh, followed by Colorado State, UNLV and New Mexico.

Nevada's stellar senior guard-tackle combo of Chris Barker and Jeff Nady were selected to the Preseason All-MW Team from the offensive side. On defense, senior safety Duke Williams was named to the team and was joined by defensive tackle Jack Reynoso, a junior who missed the final five games of the 2011 season after breaking his leg.

Nevada returns 13 starters and 31 letterwinners overall from last year's team that went 7-6 and was invited to the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl, the Pack's seventh straight bowl appearance.

The Wolf Pack opens fall camp on Aug. 6 and Nevada's first game is Sept. 1 at Cal, the first game in the renovated Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. Nevada's home opener is Sept. 8 against South Florida at Mackay Stadium. Tickets are available by calling 775-348-PACK or visiting NevadaWolfPack.com
