California Energy Standards residential review course for contractors

The City of South Lake Tahoe's Development Services Department invites contractors to attend the 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards on Friday, August 25th, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the City Council chambers.

The course is being offered free of charge.

This course will provide an overview of the requirements of the 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards for newly constructed residential buildings. Topics to be covered will include envelope, lighting, mechanical, water heating, among others. This course will identify compliance triggers, how to verify compliance at permit, and which measures and efficiencies to verify at final inspection. There will be an emphasis on new requirements for 2017. Resources available to assist with compliance with and enforcement of the Energy Standards will be highlighted.

Course Presenter BIO:
Javier Perez is an Associate Energy Specialist with the Appliances and Outreach; Education Office. He specializes in the mechanical and lighting requirements of the Energy Standards, and helps develop tools and resources to assist stakeholders comply with and enforce the Energy Standards. He has over 5 years of experience at the California Energy Commission working on the Energy Standards Hotline fielding questions from the design, building, and enforcement agency industries. Javier was since hired on as an Energy Analyst in the Outreach and Education Unit of the Efficiency Division where he supervises the Energy Standards Hotline.
