The interim Douglas County Manager, Larry Werner, just signed a contract to stay on board until December, 2017.
A contract for professional services with BHC Consultants, LLC for services provided by Werner was unanimously approved by the Douglas County Commission during their public meeting on August 4, 2016.
The contract will remain the same at a fixed cost of $14,333 per month with a $700 per month car allowance.
“Regardless of any of the change that we have had over the last couple of years, I can say as someone who represents a large group of people we have seen a little bit of peace restored,” said Douglas County employee Mike Avila, during public comment. “I feel more confident in having a strong honest leader who provides a consistent base and he is the captain of our ship right now.”
Werner served as the Carson City Manager for five years and was instrumental in developing several regional partnerships between Douglas County and Carson City, including public and environmental health, street light maintenance, regional water services and Geographic Information Services. Prior to serving as Carson City Manager, Werner served as Development Services Director/City Engineer for Carson City, as well as a Principal Engineer for Lumos and Associates, in Minden, NV. Werner also served as the Douglas County Manager in the spring of 2014 for six months.
