Four-legged friends will celebrated at the 7th annual Peaks and Paws Festival when it returns to Squaw Valley on Saturday, August 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Village this special day set aside for pets and will be full of pet-friendly guided hikes up the mountain, specialty pet vendors, contests, flying dog show, music and more.
Fetch Fest at Cushing Pond is an exciting contest for man’s best friend. Fetch Fest is a timed ball retrieval contest to see which dog can retrieve the most tennis balls from Cushing Pond before time runs out. Fetch Fest will begin at 2 p.m. and has a $5 entry fee.
Peaks and Paws is a fundraiser for the local community and all proceeds from the event benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, a non-profit dedicated to saving and improving the lives of animals. Last year’s festival raised over $13,000 in proceeds for the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.
“We can’t wait for the return of Peaks and Paws in the Village,” said Caroline Ross, executive director for the Squaw Village Neighbourhood Company. “This family-friendly and pet-focused festival is the perfect homage to benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. It’s a wonderful gathering for the local community and for furry friends to play with each other in a safe, fun and interactive setting.”
The Ultimate Flying Dog Show performances and demonstrations from JD Platt’s K9 Kings Entertainment will feature daredevil dogs showcasing some of the most incredible dog tricks and high-flying action in the world. Guests can engage in one of the world’s largest pet meet and greets, and witness a fun mix of live entertainment with music, comedy, and audience participation. Lagunitas Brewing Company will be serving $5 beers and wine will be available by the glass. “Yappy Hour” will take place from 4-5 p.m. and feature $1 off drinks and complimentary pet treats.
