Friday night update: I-80 westbound reopened at the Nevada state line.
* * *
A thunderstorm brought flash flooding on I-80, creating a mudslide that has covered some lanes. As a result, the westbound lanes near the state line just east of Farad are closed.
California Highway Patrol is holding traffic at Gold Ranch.
Crews are at the scene to clear mud but at this time there is no estimated time of opening. A detour is not provided.
