Zephyr Cove Elementary and Whittell High schools seek donations for reopening

ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. - The Zephyr Cove Elementary Parents Club and Whittell Boosters are reaching out to the community for support in the safe reopening of the two Douglas County Lake Schools on August 31.

Both of the schools will begin the 2020/2021 school year on Aug 31 with in person, daily instruction utilizing social distancing and other safety protocols.

“When we looked at the enrollment numbers of the two schools it was determined that we could have in person learning for all grades and still maintain physical distance and meet the requirements to reduce the risk to individuals,” said Sean Ryan, vice principal for the Lake Schools.

It has taken a lot of work by staff, administration and the District to get to this point. The Parents Club and Boosters asked them for a Wish List of supply needs and those are outlined below. These items will help support the learning of students as they embark upon this new school year.

“We knew with all the added safety precautions and changes to the school year, the needs and wish list for the staff would be huge, that’s why we wanted to provide a list and reach out to our amazing community for any help,” said Zephyr Cove Parents Club President Meghan Kelly.

If a parent, community member, and/or corporation can is able to provide help with anything on the list, they are asked to contact Meghan Kelly at the email zcesparentsclub@gmail.com. Donations are tax-deductible.

Two tentative drop- off dates are being scheduled for Wednesday, August 26 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 29, from - 9:00 a.m. to noon.
