Northern Nevada has its own version of a wine train as the V & T Railroad's historic steam engine takes people along the Carson River for an evening of wine and appetizers.
Hop on board at the train station each of Carson City and embark for a scenic trip that offers panoramic views of the Carson River Canyon and Nevada's classic high desert landscape.
Upon departure wine is poured as the steam locomotive leisurely rolls down the canyon. Halfway through the trip, the train stops along the river as passengers are treated to gourmet appetizers and a show: the engine uncouples and chugs by the passenger cars on the siding track to assume the lead position for the ride back. The authentic Iron Horse snapshot of yesteryear provides a memorable photo opportunity. Nearby sightings of wild Nevada mustangs are an added bonus to the trip. Tickets are $25 per person.
Tickets for the hour long event are available on their website: www.vtrailway.com.
