A Red Flag Warning is in effect through Tuesday night for the Lake Tahoe Basin, the Northern, Central and Eastern Sierra in California and Western Nevada Sierra front, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
An area of low pressure and an unseasonably strong jet streak will move into the area Tuesday, increasing winds across the region. Gusty winds of up to 40 mph and very dry conditions will combine to create critical fire weather conditions in Northeastern California and Western Nevada Tuesday into early Wednesday. Other areas outside the Red Flag Warning will see near critical conditions.
Winds are expected out of the southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Humidity will be 4 to 8 percent along the Sierra front with 6 to 14 percent in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
