American Legion Post 795 to host 9/11 ceremony

Event Date:
September 11, 2015 - 11:00am

The American Legion Post 795 of South Lake Tahoe invites residents and visitors to join members of the American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary for a commemorative ceremony to honor the innocent victims and first responders of September 11, 2001. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015, at the American Legion Hall, 2748 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. Refreshments will be served.

The commemorative ceremony honors the victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, airline flight takeovers and the American military service personnel who have died in the war against terrorism and other service members who continue the fight.

American Legion Posts across America are encouraging their communities to attend these ceremonies to ensure that the innocent victims and first responders lost that day are never forgotten. “We must not forget all of those who gave their lives for this great country,” Post Commander Matthew Panks said. “Everyone in the Lake Tahoe Basin is invited to join us for this important ceremony.”

The ceremony will also recognize emergency service personnel, including firefighters and law enforcement, who have remained strong throughout the attack on America and who have upheld the honor of patriotism. “This ceremony will not only honor those who have died, but those who live and continue to fight for the freedom of this great nation,” Panks said. “As a unified nation, we must remain committed to supporting the young men and women of our armed forces as they serve with honor and courage.”
