Auditions for SHREK: The Musical!

Youth Theatre Carson City is excited to announce our upcoming auditions for SHREK: The Musical, an exciting adaptation of the classic DreamWorks film to be held on Sept. 14 10 a.m. in the gymnasium at the Carson City Community Center.

The show will run one weekend, Jan. 10-12, 2014 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center. The cast will be comprised entirely of local youth ages five to twenty, who will play all the classic characters including Shrek, Donkey, the Princess Fiona, the evil Farquaad and his lackeys, Gingy, Pinocchio and a host of fairytale characters we all know and love!

SHREK: The Musical, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.

Auditions for SHREK: The Musical will be held at 10am on Saturday Sept. 14 in the Gymnasium at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William Street in Carson City, NV. Auditions are open to all boys and girls ages 5-20. There is a small tuition of $100 for the program. Scholarships are available upon application. Youth Theatre Carson City will also hold a rummage sale fundraiser Sept 21, at 700 N. Richmond Avenue in Carson City at the corner of Washington Street and Richmond Avenue. Please come out and support the arts in your community. All proceeds from this event will go toward YTCC programs and educational opportunities for the youth of Carson City.

Our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive environment for young people and their families to explore, create, learn and grow through quality theatrical experiences. Youth Theatre Carson City produces three to five fully staged theatrical productions per year featuring all-youth casts.
