LTVA to award over $50,000 in grants from Celebrity Golf funds to local non-profits

The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (LTVA) in partnership with NBC Sports and American Century Investments had over $110,000 to give out to South Lake Tahoe area groups, schools and non-profits after the end of the 2016 tournament.

They previously awarded $62,000 and is now looking for non-profits to get the remaining $51,984.

Applications from local nonprofits are now being accepted through Oct. 24 by LTVA for the grants.

For funding consideration groups must meet 501(c)3 certified nonprofit guidelines, provide an outline of their mission, describe how the donation will be used and indicate impact in the community, and be located in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., or in the Tahoe Township portion of Douglas County. The application is available at www.ltva.org under Community News and must be received by noon on Monday, Oct. 24.

Those that were awarded funds already due to their volunteer activity during the 27th annual tournament include area high schools, Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe, South Lake Tahoe Booster Club, Tahoe Fund and the Gene Upshaw Scholarship.

Recipients will be presented with checks at the LTVA Board of Directors meeting, Thursday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m.

Since 2009, donations exceeding $800,000 have been distributed to more than 80 local non-profits to assist 10,500+ individuals. In all, 22 Lake Tahoe area nonprofits received donations from ACC last year.

Since its inception in 1990, the tournament has donated more than $4.5 million to local and national non-profits.
