Lake Tahoe competition is on its last leg, according to event officials.
IRONMAN has given an emailed statement to News 4, explaining that organizers chose not to return to Lake Tahoe due to weather and environmental conditions.
"After careful consideration, IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 Lake Tahoe will not be extended. Despite having a wonderful host community, adverse environmental and weather conditions have made the races challenging to operate. We appreciate the efforts and support of North Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, Truckee, Kings Beach, and Squaw Valley as well as our volunteers, sponsors, and everyone else involved in putting on this triathlon over the past three years. We would also like to thank all of the athletes who have raced with us in Lake Tahoe."
