Changes on the South Shore: Tahoe Woods Condominiums

Editor's note: This is part of a series on all of the change going on in South Lake Tahoe. We'll be updating you with photos and news.

What was once a run down trailer park, and sometime homeless camp, will soon be a three story, 28 unit condominium complex named Tahoe Woods Condominiums. In an area at the southern end of Cedar and Manzanita Avenues, seven separate buildings are currently being constructed amidst the trees. The northern tip of the property is a pathway that runs adjacent to the Tahoe Meadows community.

During the September 16 South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting, a 5-0 vote approved the final parcel map and condominium plan which has been in the works since property owners first started the planning process in 2008. The plan fits with the council's "improve the built environment" strategic plan.

A Bakersfield, CA developer, Don Judkins, is the registered agent for Tahoe Woods LLC, also based in Bakersfield.

APlus Construction from Bakersfield is the lead contractor on the project but they have involved a lot of local businesses including GB General Engineering. Dave Galicia, owner of GB, said he has been asked several times by APlus to get local construction crews involved.

No finish date was available, but after visiting the property it looks like crews are working hard to get the exterior finished by the time it snows.

The 28 condominiums will have central homeowner's areas along with an HOA (Homeowner's Association).
