Wild horse and motorcyclist both die after Silver Springs collision

An unidentified man was killed Wednesday night after his Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a wild horse on US 50 in Silver Springs, NV. The horse had to be put down after the accident.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., the motorcyclist was traveling westbound when he hit the horse, causing him to be ejected from his bike and thrown into the eastbound travel lane. The drivers of three passenger vehicles traveling eastbound did not see the accident or the man in the roadway and were unable to avoid running over him.

All three vehicles stopped to try and assist the down rider and contacted law enforcement through 911. The male motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The speed limit in that area of US 50 is 65 miles per hour and there is no roadway lighting. The driver’s of the vehicles involved are cooperating with law enforcement with their investigation. Alcohol or any other means of impairment are not a factor for the cause of the accident

The accident is still under investigation and no names are being release at this time until next of kin has been notified.
