Dance of Hope connecting Ugandans with South Lake Tahoe community

Dance of Hope, a cultural music and dance-touring program from Uganda, has been in South Shore schools all week, connecting youth to the sounds of the world with passionate rhythms, sensational sounds, and exhilarating and colorful choreography.

They also stopped by Marcia Sarosik's dance studio in South Lake Tahoe to work with middle school students who will be accompanying them on the MontBleu stage Friday night during Tahoe Art's Project Dance of Hope performance.

The group has enjoyed their South Lake Tahoe visit. For many of them it was their visit to the United States and they have taken advantage of their time and met with school teachers and principals and immersing themselves in the Tahoe culture.

They started their week off with a stop at Sarosik's studio, the home of Lake Tahoe's Shining Stars, to lead classes and for a meal supplied by Marcia, both of which group said a great start to their week in Tahoe.

Started in 2010, Dance of hope is produced to explore the primal transforming power of arts by inspiring and connecting young people globally, while bringing awareness and raising support to provide quality education and improve the way of life for children. Many of their participants come from the worst environments imaginable to turn negative stories into positive ones while they aim to inspire others to do the same.

Dance of Hope has been working with students at all South Shore schools this week and will have a public performance Friday, October 5 at MontBleu. Doors open for at MontBleu at 6:30 p.m. with admission tickets sold starting at 6:00 p.m. Children are free when accompanied by an adult. Adults are $10.
