Prescribed Burns in South Lake Tahoe Start Friday

Expect to see smoke in the area of Pioneer Trail and Al Tahoe Boulevard starting Friday, October 18 due to prescribed burns being conducted by the U.S. Forest Service fuel management crews. They expect to burn one acre a day for about a week, depending on weather and conditions.

Smoke will be visible. The Forest Service strives to minimize the impacts of smoke on local communities. Smoke-sensitive residents should consider staying indoors and keeping doors, windows and outside vents closed.
