For over four decades, Robert Rossi has served the community in several positions from volunteer firefighter to battalion chief to board member.
Lake Valley Fire Protection District (LVFPD) honored outgoing Director Robert Rossi, a position he's held since 2010.
Rossi began his career as a volunteer firefighter, and in 1974 was hired full time by Lake Valley Fire. He moved through the ranks, retiring in 2007 as a Battalion Chief. In 2010, Rossi again wanted to serve his community and was elected as a member of the Board of Directors. In his role as a Director he has served the District with the same level of integrity, dedication, and commitment as when he first began his career.
"The Board of Directors of the Lake Valley Fire Protection District, the Executive Board of the Lake Valley Firefighters Association, and all Lake Valley Fire Staff hereby acknowledge our respect and gratitude to Director Robert Rossi for his many years of service to the District," the District said in a press release. "His extensive firefighting knowledge has been invaluable in helping the District make sound decisions for the benefit of our constituents. His direction and leadership will be sorely missed. We wish him the best in his retirement and any future endeavors."
To replace Rossi, LVFPD has been taking applications for the open position. The deadline is Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. As of 3:00 p.m. there were three applications received. Interviews will be held October 19 during a closed session meeting of the remaining board members at 6:00 p.m.
