After losing their town manager to the Douglas County Public Works Department, the Town of Genoa has approved an interlocal agreement to appoint Melissa Blosser in their top spot.
Blosser is also Douglas County's community relations manager and public information officer and will be splitting her duties between the two roles through an interlocal agreement.
The $4,500 month-to-month contract was approved by the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners on October 18, 2018. Former Town Manager Phil Ritger accepted a position as the County's new public works director.
Melissa Blosser has served as the Douglas County Community Relations Manager and Public Information Officer for the past five and a half years. Prior to that she worked for the Lassen County Fair in Susanville, California where she assisted in managing seasonal employees, service and vendor contracts and marketing large events, preparation of board agendas and minutes.
“The Town of Genoa is truly a special place and I am honored to be serving the community in this capacity,” said Blosser. “I intend to provide support and stability through Douglas County for the township allowing them to take the time needed to find a permanent replacement.”
Melissa holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Communications and Public Relations. She will graduate in the Fall of 2018 with a degree in Mass Communication from South Dakota State University School of Journalism. She resides in Minden and has two sons.
Blosser will assume the position on October 25.
