South Lake Tahoe Police looking for suspects in five burglaries

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is investigating several burglaries in the "Y" area of the city that occurred over the last two days.
On Wednesday, October 22 at 11:15 p.m., SLT Police responded to an alarm at the K-Mart Garden Center where they found the front glass door smashed in. Two suspects attempted to steal the cash registers but stole cash instead. They fled on foot and witnesses described the suspects as males wearing grey hooded sweatshirts.
While officers were investigating the K-Mart burglary, SLTPD received an alarm activation call at Ponderosa Glass on Emerald Bay Road at 11:49 p.m. This location is a few blocks away from K-Mart. Officers found the glass front door smashed in as well and the glass company reported that approximately $200 in cash was stolen. Officers noticed the neighboring business, operated by Barton Health, also had their door smashed in. It is unknown what was taken from that location.
On Thursday morning, as other businesses were opening up for the day, the SLTPD received calls about break in at their locations. Enchanted Florist on Emerald Bay Road and Auto Bazaar on Lake Tahoe Blvd both called in, reporting smashed in front doors. An iPhone was reported stolen from the car dealer and a laptop from the florist.
It is believed that the same two suspects are involved in all five burlgaries.
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is reminding business owners to make sure their surveillance systems are working properly and are of high quality. Poor quality surveillance systems may limit their ability to identify suspects.
Anyone with information about these cases should call the South Lake Tahoe Police Department at 542-6100 or Secret Witness at 541-6800.
