I just want to thank everyone who supported me and my campaign. I really feel that I made a decent showing, considering I was out-spent 33 to 1. I plan to stay involved in the community as I have always done. Who knows what will happen in 2 years. I’m already considering another city council run in 2018. I feel so lucky having been able to personally talk to about 2,500 voters, answer their questions, discuss their concerns and rejoice with them about living in the most beautiful place on earth.
I congratulate Brooke Laine and Jason Collin. I will happily support their tenure on the city council and hope they know that even if I may occasionally disagree with them I pledge to always do so with respect and kindness. I truly enjoyed getting to know all the candidates better during the campaign. And, although we didn’t all agree on every issue. We did agree that we all want to make our community a better place for all who live and visit here.
I encourage the rest of the bottom eight vote-getters to join me in continuing our involvement. I hope each and every one joins a city commission, gets involved in one or both of the Chambers of Commerce, attends the Citizen’s Academy and considers running for office at a future date. Even if they choose not to run for city council, there is always STPUD, Board of Education, LTCC Board, and many others. These wonderful folks have so much to offer our community, it would be a shame for them to not stay involved. I personally look forward to getting to know each one to a greater degree.
