'White Christmas' guaranteed at South Tahoe High School Viking Theatre

Event Date:
December 7, 2012 - 7:00pm

The ultimate Christmastime crowd-pleaser show is taking place at the Viking Theatre at South Tahoe High School’s Tahoe Arts and Design Academy this December 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7pm and December 9 and 16 at 2pm. It’s the holiday favorite musical production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas performed by the students of South Tahoe High School’s Performing Arts Department.

Based on the original movie classic starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, this NEW stage version which played on Broadway for the first time just four years ago, has been updated with some additional chorus numbers while keeping the favorites. “It’s sure to put everyone in a ‘Happy Holiday mood’, said show director, Nannette Niven.

The star-studded cast will feature student talent Alec Niven, Ben Eliot, Emily Dawes, Korrigan Zwijacz, Jessica Robberson and Emery Mulligan in the leading roles, plus more than 40 very talented actors, singers and dancers in the musical chorus. The show is directed by Nannette Niven with choreography by Marcia Sarosik, vocal music direction by Bob Grant, and sets by Drake Niven. The production also features a full orchestra conducted by Casson Scowcroft including both students and professionals.

“The orchestra will really make this musical come alive,” continued Niven. The production is full of favorite Irving Berlin tunes such as Blue Skies, I Love a Piano, Happy Holiday, Snow, How Deep Is The Ocean, and of course the title song, White Christmas. Show credits include: Music & Lyrics by Irving Berlin, book by David Ives and Paul Blake and the show is performed with permission from Rodgers & Hammerstein Theatricals.

Ticket prices are $15 for General Admission, $10 for Senior Citizens and $5 for students 18 years of age and younger. Tickets will go on sale after Thanksgiving.
